🧽 1. Washing Best Practices

• Hand Washing is Best: Regular hand washing using the two-bucket method is the safest way to maintain your film’s gloss and hydrophobic performance.

• Routine Maintenance: We recommend washing your vehicle weekly to fortnightly to prevent dirt build-up and keep the surface performing at its best.

• pH Neutral Products Only: Always use high-quality, pH-neutral automotive car washes and detailing sprays. Highly acidic or heavily alkaline cleaners can permanently degrade and damage the PPF, its top-coat, and even your factory paintwork.

⚠️ 2. Pressure Washer & Car Wash Warnings

• The 0.5-Meter Rule: You can use a pressure washer, but you must keep the nozzle at least half a meter (50cm) away from the vehicle at all times. High pressure blasted directly at an edge or seam can catch, lift, peel, or permanently damage the film.

• Avoid Automatic Car Washes: Commercial automatic car washes (especially those with spinning brushes) use harsh, recycling water and highly abrasive bristles that will micro-scratch and damage your film.

• Act Fast on Environmental Fallout: Brisbane’s wildlife can be tough on cars. Do not allow bird droppings, bat droppings, tree sap, bug splatter, or chemical spills to bake in the sun on your vehicle.

• The Risk of Etching: While PPF provides incredible protection, severe organic acids can eventually etch into the film if left sitting for extended periods. Safely spot-clean these contaminants immediately using a pH-neutral quick detailer and a plush microfibre towel.

Because the coating does not stop mechanical scratching, you must practice proper washing techniques to prevent micro-marring:

• The Two-Bucket Method: Always use one bucket for your wash suds and a second bucket of clean water with a grit guard to rinse your microfibre wash mitt. This traps dirt away from your paintwork.

• Never Use Automated Brush Washes: Abrasive commercial brushes will swirl and degrade your coating. Stick to careful hand washing.

• Dedicate Your Towels: Use only high-quality, plush microfibre drying towels. Gently glide the towel across the surface rather than scrubbing.

• Chemical Safety: Always clean your vehicle with premium, pH-neutral automotive soaps and quick detailers.

• What to Avoid: Highly acidic or heavily alkaline cleaners (like cheap commercial “truck washes” or harsh degreasers) can chemically attack and break down the coating’s structure over time, stripping away its slickness and hydrophobic properties.

⏱️ 3. Recommended Wash Frequency

• Stay Consistent: We recommend a regular wash schedule of weekly to fortnightly to keep the surface looking and performing its best.

• Prevent Build-Up: Allowing road grime, exhaust soot, and industrial fallout to sit on the vehicle for months can mask the coating’s hydrophobic properties, making the water-beading appear dead until a deep decontamination wash is performed.

⏳ 1. The 3-Day Rule (Crucial)

• Do Not Lower Windows: Keep your windows rolled up completely for a minimum of 3 days (72 hours) post-installation. The automatic drop when a door opens is fine.

• Why it matters: The friction from the door seals can catch the fresh film, causing it to peel, shift, or bunch at the bottom before the adhesive has fully bonded to the glass.

🧼 2. Moisture Bubbles & Hazing

• What’s Normal: You will likely notice minor moisture bubbles, water pockets, or a slightly hazy appearance within the first week. Do not panic, and do not press on them.

• The Dissipation Process: This is a completely normal part of the curing process as the remaining slip solution evaporates through the film. These bubbles will generally dissipate within a day or two on warm days, but can take up to a week depending on weather conditions. You do not need to intentionally park in the sun, just use the vehicle as per normal.

• Ammonia-Free Products Only: When cleaning your tinted windows, always use a basic, pH-neutral glass cleaner that is explicitly labelled as safe for aftermarket window tints.

• Avoid Abrasives: Never use ammonia-based cleaners (like standard household Windex) or abrasive scrubbing pads, as they will chemically degrade the scratch-resistant top coat and permanently cloud the film.

• Best Method: Use a clean, plush microfibre towel dedicated strictly to glass to avoid scratching.
