The Tesla Model Y L has officially landed in Australia, and it’s the one families have been waiting for. After all, it brings six seats across three rows, a wheelbase 150mm longer than the regular Model Y and up to 681km of WLTP range. In other words, it’s built for school runs and road trips alike. So when this brand new white example rolled in, it came straight to us for full-body Model Y L PPF and window tint.
Of course, a bigger car also means more paint to look after. First, our team covered every painted panel in Xpel paint protection film, laying it by hand piece by piece from the bonnet and front bumper right through to the doors, rear quarters and tailgate. Then, once it settles, the finished Model Y L PPF is virtually invisible over the factory white paint.
What’s more, the film is self-healing, so light swirls and scratches disappear with heat. As a result, the paint underneath stays protected from stone chips, scratches and bug splatter. Finally, we finished the job with window tint to cut heat and UV inside the cabin. That’s a big win for passengers in all three rows, especially under the Queensland sun.
Is Model Y L PPF worth it?
For families who want their new Tesla to stay looking showroom fresh, it’s a great option. In addition, the film can be removed down the track to reveal the original factory paint underneath. Consequently, it helps protect resale value when it’s time to upgrade. Plus, if you want it even easier to wash, you can also add ceramic coating over the top of the film.
